Mission
The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at O6U is a facility that strives to
 
§  Provide the best medical care to the underprivileged women attending our institution by applying the reference academic standards and meeting the social and community needs and recommendations.

§   Provide a high standard medical education program and clinical skills to both undergraduates and graduates in our residency program.

§  Encourage the obstetrics and gynecology residents to be trained by consultants in obstetrics and gynecology, with adequate medical knowledge, communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, learning and improvement. This will enhance patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.

Services Provided:

We offer a wide scope of services that address every healthcare phase that a woman experiences in a lifetime – starting with the pre-reproductive phase prior to childbearing and ending with menopausal years. Our physicians (including a number of visiting university staff and consultants) are committed to excellence in patient care.

 

General Obstetrics

The department provides a full service facility for obstetrical patients, extending distinct ante-partum, intrapartum and post-partum care. The department's staff are highly trained physicians (obstetricians, neonatologists and anesthesiologists) and nurses. A newly designed Labour and Delivery ward featuring 2 vaginal delivery rooms and an operating theatre reserved for c-sections was added as an extra facility.

 

The services provided for obstetrical patients include:

-         Routine antenatal care to the low and high  risk pregnancy ladies

-          Routine Ultrasound examination to the obstetric patient

-         Around the clock casualty admission dealing with cases such as bleeding in early and late pregnancy as well as any obstetric emergency

-         Around the clock admission for deliveries (both vaginal deliveries and c-sections)

 

General Gynecology

Our physicians are dedicated to providing state of the art preventive gynecological care for the maintenance of optimal well being in all of our patients. Our team approach involves not only our doctors and nurses, but also our patients.

We provide the following services:

·         Family planning counseling and contraception options.

·         Routine gynecologic care

·         Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery including laparoscopy

·         Urogynecologic service

·         Preventive gynecologic care

·         Adolescent health

·         Perimenopausal and menopausal care.

·         Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

·         Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

·         Infertility &Reproductive Endocrinology.

·         Gynecologic Oncology.
